Navigator 1.0

A major concern for the visually impaired persons is the issue of navigation. Visually impaired persons want to navigate through their house. They also want to go to some common places like school, grocery stores and so on. But this may be difficult for them especially at the beginning. To solve this problem a navigation device that can be used indoors as well as outdoors is proposed using the navigation capability of the EvoPrimer (accelerometer, gyroscope and magnetometer). The device will have two modes: recording and retracing (navigation). In the recording mode, a person that can see walks through a path to some destination (a path that the visually impaired is expected to follow, e.g. from home to school, or from the kitchen to the dining room). The device records this path and creates a map to the destination, and stores this map for later use. Then in the navigation mode, a visually impaired person selects a destination and is guided through a path using an audio feedback (turn left, turn right and so on).
